New Year’s Eve Dinner: Braised Beef Short Ribs

Recently we featured a recipe for Braised Beef Short Ribs in our weekly column in The Forum newspaper. Since then, many of our readers have reached out to us to share how much they enjoyed making – and eating – these short ribs. One reader even said that the sauce was the best gravy he’s ever made!

These short ribs are surprisingly easy and affordable to make for a dish that delivers big on flavor and quality. Rich, succulent, tender, elegant and delicious are just a few of the reactions shared by our readers, several of whom plan to make them again for their New Year’s Eve celebration.

We recommend serving the ribs with our Perfect Whipped Potatoes and My Mom’s Best Caesar Salad, and then topping off the evening with our homemade Chocolate Truffles. For wine pairings, we recommend Prosecco sparkling wine and a dry red wine, like Cabernet Sauvignon or Zinfandel.

We’d love to hear about your New Year’s Eve menu plans, so please share with us in the Comments below.

Happy cooking and Happy New Year!

I made the braised beef ribs for Christmas and I absolutely have to make them again this week for NYE. I find them addicting!! I bought the ribs at Frank and Wayne’s and they knew right away exactly how I wanted them cut! This recipe is most definitely a winner. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Hi Susan, I thought that I’d included a reply when I “approved” your message, but it isn’t posted anywhere. Just wanted to let you know that your message made my day last week – how fun to hear from you. I’m so glad you like the short ribs recipe – we are addicts, too. In fact, I find myself looking for an excuse to entertain, just so I can make the ribs again. 🙂 Thanks so much for reaching out and best wishes for a happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year. Happy Cooking! – Sarah
