Tony, Sarah and Giovanni, in the Badlands of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, North Dakota

Welcome to our Blog!

I’m Sarah Nasello, a writer, storyteller and food columnist based in Fargo, North Dakota, where I live with my husband Tony (a.k.a., The Lost Italian) and our son, Giovanni. I write a weekly food column called “Home with The Lost Italian,” which is featured every Wednesday in Fargo’s local newspaper, The Forum. Each week I share stories and recipes inspired by the universal language of food.

Before returning to Fargo in 2000 (my hometown), Tony and worked together throughout the 1990s as hotel officers aboard luxury cruise ships. We have sailed all around the world, from the Arctic to the Antarctic, with visits to all seven continents. We are passionate about food, wine, travel, family, friends, North Dakota, Italy, and especially our son, Giovanni. We are excited to have you join us on this virtual journey.

If there’s anything you’d like to see us feature, either in the column or here on the blog, please feel free to let us know. You can post right to the blog in the comments section below. We would love to hear from you.

Thank you, Diane! We are so glad to know that you found and enjoyed our edamame recipe and happy that it was featured in the Brainerd Dispatch. I went to their website but could not locate the article. Was it in the print edition? I know that any Forum affiliated paper can pull our columns from the wire whenever they wish, and we would love to be featured regularly in your area.

Your comment has made our day. Thank you so much for getting in touch. Warmly, Sarah and Tony

      Hi Martha,

Thank you so much for your messages. I am sorry to hear you are having problems. The Forum has been making changes to the AreaVoices blog format, so it would help me to know how you are trying to sign up. It appears, from my end, that the button I normally have posted on our homepage to “SUBSCRIBE” to our blog is no longer present – I’m not sure if that was the portal you were trying to use, or if you tried another way. Please give me a little more detail and I will make sure we get you subscribed.

      Many thanks,
